Blog # 8
I want to write my essay on a book about death because I think its complicated for children to understand death and why someone the loved is no longer living. I am debating between "I remember Miss Perry", "I'll always love you" or "I miss you". They are all great books but I want to make sure I pick a book that relates to both genders and give a better understanding about death. I can relate to it because when I was younger I would be so upset because I didn't understand why one of my relatives died. It also can relate to my younger cousins because they didn't understand why my grandma died so young, she was only 59. And they were hurt and confused and it hit them hard.

It’s shocking to see how many books have been pulled from the classrooms, especially books that shouldn’t even be pulled. What’s really shocking is that most of the people who pull them aren’t even teachers or the education board they are mostly parents. Parents are like so controlling over what their child sees, hears, or reads. I know people have their own corky ways of doing things but when it comes to education parents should trust that teachers are doing their job or protecting their child from harm. The main reason why parents want to censor their children is because they have religious beliefs that don’t correspond to education beliefs and they don’t want what they say be contradicted at the school by a teacher or a book. And it’s really sad to see that they are “dummying down” the books by using shorter sentences and more simple words, which means low standards for children’s education.

Milton argues that in our society there is a streaming foundation of knowledge in order to expand and evolve. I agree with Milton that knowledge should be uncensored and people should hear the truth. They should know what is really going on not a simpleton story. Some of the media tries to prevent the truth from the public by putting dumb stories or unnecessary information, but then there is other media like the internet and other liberal news channels that hardly censors information but people don’t watch those channels they watch popular news channels which censors everything.

Mill's work was about the difference between governments ruled by either tyranny or authority. In the beginning of the reading he mentions the concepts of tyrannies that ruled Greece, Rome, and England. Those of tyranny rule would steal their people’s rights to think for themselves and do everything the leader says, almost like communism. People being controlled by democracy are corrupted because they are able express themselves freely and are able to choose a leader who represents them. From Mill’s point of view says that if the government makes a slight mistake or a big mistake then they can be removed.

In this reading I discovered that there is a story for each side. And they all can be agreed for each side. For example Parliament believes cutting off all knowledge could lead to a pause in life and not moving on which can lead to going backwards and not moving forward. The Church believes that all books and knowledge should be written in God's image. The people believe that as long as there is censorship there is no truth. But, each had their own description in the world of knowledge, censorship, and the ways of life itself. John believes that censorship is just a way to cover up the truth. No matter how many sides there are to the argument it still stands that we have our own mind, body, and soul. Our experience are all different from each other and we express ourselves differently as well and if we all think together then we can make a difference because three or more heads are better than one.
